I remember the second time i cooked in our International Cuisine subject last semester....
The second assignment was to cook Chinese cuisines, since dun ang natackle na lesson ng prof,
i do not recall kung anu ba yung nakaassign sa ibang group, basta ang instruction is 3 groups will do northern chinese and the remaining 3 groups will do southern chinese.
we must stick to the topic before we select any recipes.
those who are working for northern must do what Northern Chinese foods while we do South....
When we say Chinese, automatic ang papasok sa isip naten is siopao, siomai, noodles, patatim etc...,
pero hindi lahat ganun, there is a big difference between the two regions....
Northern Chinese are simple, but flavorful and at the same time elegant...in other words, wala maxadong magarang chorva pero masarap... while Southern Chinese cuisine naman, is dapat elegant but yet masarap.....
in other words, maraming kemeri bururut...LOL
my group, kung saan lima lang kame, while the others are composed of 6 or 7 or 8 or whatever....
was able to achieve it kahit papano, pero naka2lungkot ang grade q, 2.00 lang ata nakuha q basta mga ganun, whehehe, pero ayus lang, nagsisimula pa lang naman ang laban, ehehe
so anyway these are the food that we cooked.... panget kuha q eh, ehehe
for soup...

Chicken Wonton
hindi ko sinerve agad to, late na kase naisalang, (yan ang result ng 50 students tapos iisa lang ang lab, nagsisiksikan sa lutuan at unahan pa....) anyway, syempre you need wonton wrapper here... the meat mixture is made out of ground chicken, carrot, celery, soy sauce, dry sherry and ginger root(if in case wla nyan, you can shred ginger na lang,), its your choice if you want it steamed, or fried.. oh btw i have a few reminders sa huli nga pala... :)
next, is the noodle dish....

Walnut Angel Stir-Fry
well, pancit nga naman yan, hehe... ininglish lag hehe
anyway, the noodle is angel hair, and is cooked with soy sauce, carrot, bell peppers (any color will do), chili flakes, snow peas (chicharo), fresh mushrooms (when i say fresh, meaning yung nasa lata, not the one that is dried and packaged...), and to top it all.... some toasted walnuts...
moving on to the main dish....

Cashew Chicken
well, you need chicken here of course, some orange juice, honey, soy sauce, ground ginger, onions, carrots and celery.... plus cashews rin.... salt and pepper rin pala, hehe... oh btw, cashew chicken is spicy, don't forget the chili flakes okay? hehe
and for the dessert....

Chinese Mango Pudding (courtesy of google.com)
not our pic, pero i used it for show and tell hehe
simply lang yan, gelatin, milk, and yellow mangoes of course.... you will have to chill these babies up to four hours or more, or better yet over night.....
last but not least.....

Nai Cha (courtesy of google.com)
nakalimutan kase pikturan kaya ayan, hehe
well, you'll need a brewed tea to make this.... (i prefer to use jasmine tea...) syrup, and of course, milk.....(any types will do, fresh, evap or soy) just mix the three babies up then chill...oh, don't forget tapioca pearls (sago) or gulaman na rin :D
walang sisishan kung magutom kayo or hinde, hehe basta ako kakain ako, wahahaha anyway, here are some points to ponder....
- when labeling a food with a country lets say, chinese.... make sure that there is really something in that food that makes it chinese, hindi pwedeng porket sinabe mong chinese yan, eh chinese na nga yan... madalas akong nakakapanuod ng ganoon,
- wanton and siomai.... when you say wonton wrapper, malake yun na square.... when you say siomai wrapper, masmaliit yun
- lechon originated from the chinese
- KAINAN NA!!! hehe
from the YEE,
to the HAW!!!!!
